Soldier On to launch new Pledge to encourage further commitment to veteran and family employment

National not-for-profit organisation Soldier On will formally launch the 2020 Soldier On Pledge tomorrow to encourage more companies to commit to providing veteran-supportive employment opportunities.

Pledge organisations work in collaboration with the Soldier On Pathways Program, which provides employment transition and support education to veterans and their families. The Pathways Program supports over 3000 veterans and their families across Australia, and guides veteran and their families through the complexities and emotional challenges of transitioning to civilian careers. The Soldier On Pathways Program is supported by funding from the Australian Government and Department of Veterans’ Affairs “Enhanced Employment Support for Veterans” Program.

Soldier On Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Slavich said; “The Soldier On Pledge is first and foremost about enabling our veterans and their family members to secure their future career. We want more companies to come on board and learn about the veteran community, recognise the skills acquired by those who have served in the Australian Defence Force, say thank you for their service and sign the Soldier On Pledge to make a public commitment to providing veteran-supportive recruitment, retention, training and workplace culture initiatives.”

“Many people in Australia are facing employment challenges due to COVID-19 and Soldier On is doing our best to support Veterans and their families at this time. We provide holistic support services which includes Health and Wellbeing programs, employment and education support, and social activities like walking groups, coffee catch-ups, yoga and more. Forming strong partnerships with Pledge organisations is another way for us to support the veteran community as it will forge pathways that will enable more veterans and their families to secure long-term meaningful employment,” he added.

The Pledge Launch event will be held at Soldier On’s Headquarters in Canberra on Tuesday 1st September at 10am, in accordance with COVID-19 regulations.

At the event Soldier On will discuss the importance of partnership working with Pledge companies who are truly committed to supporting the veteran community, that will enable more veterans and their family members to secure long-term meaningful employment.

Soldier On will also announce this year’s First Soldier On Platinum Pledge Partner – a company who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to veteran and family employment.
