National veteran support organistion Soldier On, formally launched the Soldier On Pledge 2020 today, as part of the Pathways Program, to encourage companies to commit to providing veteran-supportive employment opportunities. The Soldier On Pathways Program is supported by funding from the Australian Government and Department of Veterans’ Affairs “Enhanced Employment Support for Veterans” Program.
Soldier On Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Slavich said; “The Soldier On Pledge is first and foremost about enabling our veterans and their family members to secure their future career. We want more companies to come on board and learn about the veteran community, recognise the skills acquired by those who have served in the Australian Defence Force, say thank you for their service and sign the Soldier On Pledge to make a public commitment to providing veteran-supportive recruitment, retention, training and workplace culture initiatives.”
“Many people in Australia are facing employment challenges due to COVID-19 and Soldier On is doing our best to support Veterans and their families at this time. We provide holistic support services which includes Health and Wellbeing programs, employment and education support, and social activities like walking groups, coffee catch-ups, yoga and more. Forming strong partnerships with Pledge organisations is another way for us to support the veteran community as it will forge pathways that will enable more veterans and their families to secure long-term meaningful employment,” he added.
The Pledge Launch event held at Soldier On Headquarters in Canberra today, was attended by the first 10 organisations to commit to the new Soldier On Pledge, as well as Veterans and their family members.
At the event Soldier On announced local Canberra business AeroPM as the first company to be recognised as a Platinum Pledge partner. Platinum level Pledge partners have shown outstanding long-term commitment to Veteran employment. AeroPM is a 100 % Veteran owned and operated consulting firm of choice for the Department of Defence and the Australian Defence Industry and is a great example of how the Pledge program supports Veterans with meaningful employment opportunities.
Soldier On Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Slavich said; “We are delighted to announce AeroPM as the very first Platinum Pledge Partner under the new 2020 Pledge Program. AeroPM was recently recognized at the Prime Ministers Veteran Employment Awards for 2020, and is a prime example of how the Soldier On Pledge supports Veterans with meaningful employment opportunities and they are exactly the kind of veteran-supportive organisation that we would like all our Pledge Partners to strive to be.”
“We are extremely proud to partner with Soldier On through this amazing initiative. AeroPM maintains a Veteran employment rate of over 90% and our point of difference is truly our people. We aim to provide opportunity to veteran workers, enabling a highly skilled workforce to enhance Australia’s sovereign capability,” commented AeroPM General Manager, Adam Frizell.
AeroPM Chief Executive Officer, Emily Frizell commented that; “AeroPM have been a long-time supporter of Soldier On and their mission aligns perfectly with our own values. Being veterans ourselves we understand the importance of retaining the valuable skills and acumen of our fellow ex-service men and women. AeroPM will continue to generate veteran employment opportunities for decades to come”.
