Pathways Education update – December

Soldier On’s Pathways Program provides education and employment support to veterans and their families. At this time of year many people think about the year ahead and for some the possibility of a change in career may be on the horizon.

Soldier On’s Education team can help you get started with learning and education opportunities. We work with over 30 veteran-supportive education organisations, many of whom provide course discounts to Veterans and their families to enable rapid upskilling.

IBM SkillsBuild – develop your professional skills

Contact the Soldier On Education team and we can get you started on IBM SkillsBuild, giving you free access to a wide range of digital courses covering topics as diverse as cybersecurity, communications, to professional development and health and wellbeing courses.

Matt, Soldier On Pathways Program participant and IBM Skillsbuild user, encourages others to contact Soldier On and access the digital platform:

“The local Soldier On Pathways Officer, has helped tremendously – helping me to update my resume, as well as reaching out to a potential employer.

“I would definitely recommend other veterans and their families to contact Soldier On and use Skillsbuild via Soldier On as it doesn’t just provide you with basic information and courses. The Skillsbuild platform has the resources on there to both learn from scratch or upskill even further into a career path of your choice.”

Are you curious about Mindfulness?
In this course, learners develop an understanding of mindfulness concepts and techniques. You can also learn how to further develop focus and self-awareness and how to apply mindfulness practices in various situations.

Complete the course and earn the SkillsBuild Explorations into Mindfulness badge, co-created by IBM and the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre. Badge earners can use these skills as a foundation for further study in mindfulness and to apply mental and emotional management in any career path they choose.

FortiVet for Veterans
The Fortinet Veteran (FortiVet) Program helps military service members and military spouses find opportunities at Fortinet and with their partners.

Service men & women, veterans, and spouses can access learning through the Fortinet Network Security Academy for free. Participants can also stay engaged with hiring opportunities and skills development events in their region by connecting with the Fortinet Veterans Group Fuse Community.
