Soldier On’s Pathways team are excited to announce the return of face-to-face Networking events for current serving or ex-serving Australian defence force personnel and their families, seeking new employment opportunities. Organised by Soldier On Australia as a way to introduce veterans and their families to veteran-supportive organisations, allowing veterans to discuss anything from transition, interview tips, career advice, available roles and more.
Pathways Networking Events play a key role in helping contemporary veterans and their families to secure employment in the civilian world. Providing the chance to network with veteran-friendly Soldier On Pledge companies and education providers, in a relaxed, no-stress environment.
The free Career Networking events provide veterans and their families with the opportunity to meet veteran-supportive employers who value the high-level skills acquired in the ADF. As well as a chance to learn more about the free employment and education support available via Soldier On’s Pathways Program.
Pathways Networking events also give veterans and their families the chance to talk with Soldier On’s veteran-supportive education partners, if you’re interested in recognition of prior learning, upskilling or re-training to secure your future career. Many Soldier On Education Partners provide discounts for veterans and their families. There are also some free education opportunities available to Soldier On Pathways Program participants, which includes a range of digital learning opportunities available via IBM SKillsbuild.
Soldier On Pathways staff in Brisbane, Canberra and Adelaide were delighted to be able to recently host face-to-face Networking Events, for some for the first time since the Covid-19 global pandemic began.
In Canberra, 17 Soldier On Pledge companies, 2 education partners and 2 ex-service organisations took part in the Networking event. With around 40 Soldier On participants attending on the night, with 10 attendees securing job interviews.
Adam Frizell, General Manager of Soldier On Platinum Pledge Partner, AeroPM said;
“These family-friendly events are a great way to meet potential employers that truly understand what you and your family are going through in the transition period from military service. The youngest Frizell’s even helped out at the Canberra evening to show fellow veterans it is possible to have a work-life balance in which family comes first, with veteran-friendly employers like AeroPM.”
Soldier On offers holistic support through its Health and Wellbeing, Employment, Learning, and Participation (H.E.L.P.) programs to build resilience, and create and expand meaningful connections with family, community, and employers. The Pathways Networking Events are a key element of the Soldier On Pathways Program that links contemporary veterans and families to over 100 Pledge companies and more than 30 Education Partners offering employment roles and education courses.
Soldier On would like to thank everyone who attended the recent events including Soldier On Pathways Program participants, Pledge organisations and Soldier On Education Partners and other ex-service organisations that supported and attended the recent events.
